Sreknord.net is the personal web-space of Leonard Dronkers. The main purpose of this website is to help others with programming issues that I have come across or had to challenge. Currently the subjects covered are mostly about the Zend Framework for I am on a quest to become an expert user/consultant. Plus this website will hopefully help me get connected to maybe YOU, as I am open to feedback, suggestions or other interesting ideas.
Plans for the near future will include writing posts about databases, the internet, other web-frameworks or whatever the mood strikes.
A while back – two years ago - I was introduced to the Zend Framework. I think it was prior to release 1.5. I remember having to either use Zend_Layout from the incubator or writing something to that effect ourselves. Then after just two short projects I decided to make a career move and went to work as a software engineer at VNU Media (NL). With this move I had said goodbye to php and web-development for the most part -on to something new.
After just two years in the new job and a major reorganization I am currently working as a web-developer again. I have rediscovered php and the Zend Framework and I am really excited to be back at programming php. That said, I am now taking it a step further. I am very eager to get to know the Zend Framework inside-out and use it to its fullest capacity.
With getting back into the Zend Framework I have met a lot of challenges, one of which is the Zend Framework reference guide. A lot of the examples - I think - miss the bigger picture. As I was looking for answers myself I found that a lot of people are asking the same questions: “What about modules, and where to put module specific classes”, “How can I use config files for my modules”, “How about dependencies between modules”, etc. Well, I do not think that I have all the answers but I have found out a couple things which I am – and will be - sharing on my blog and with downloads made available. While studying the Zend Framework and using it in projects I will keep on adding more. That said, the solutions I (have) come up with are just my interpretation on how to use the Zend Framework; just remember all roads lead to Rome.
